Danny Zuko
- Type: Male lead (T-Birds leader)
- Description: Confident, charismatic, and image-conscious. Struggles between maintaining his tough-guy persona and expressing genuine feelings for Sandy.
- Vocal Range: Tenor (approx. D3 – B4)
Sandy Dumbrowski
- Type: Female lead
- Description: Sweet, wholesome, and initially conservative. Undergoes a transformation to assert independence and win Danny on her own terms.
- Vocal Range: Soprano (approx. A3 – D5/E5)
Betty Rizzo
- Type: Female lead (Pink Ladies leader)
- Description: Tough, sarcastic, and emotionally guarded. Beneath the bravado, she reveals vulnerability, especially in her relationship with Kenickie.
- Vocal Range: Alto/Mezzo-Soprano (approx. F3 – D5)
Kenickie
- Type: Male supporting lead
- Description: Danny’s best friend. Brash, impulsive, and proud—especially of his car. Has a complicated relationship with Rizzo.
- Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor (approx. E3 – G4/A4)
Frenchy
- Type: Supporting (Pink Lady)
- Description: Dreamy and kind-hearted but not academically inclined. Aspires to be a beautician; comic relief with warmth.

Marty
- Type: Supporting (Pink Lady)
- Description: Flirtatious, stylish, and boy-crazy. Loves attention and romance.

Jan
- Type: Supporting (Pink Lady)
- Description: Quirky, enthusiastic, and food-loving. Often provides comedic energy.
- Vocal Range: Alto (approx. G3 – C5)
Doody
- Type: Supporting (T-Bird)
- Description: Younger and more innocent than the others. Plays guitar and has a sweet crush on Frenchy.
- Vocal Range: Tenor (approx. D3 – A4)
Roger
- Type: Supporting (T-Bird)
- Description: The clown of the group—energetic and goofy. Often paired with Jan.
- Vocal Range: Tenor (approx. D3 – A4)
Sonny LaTierri
- Type: Supporting (T-Bird)
- Description: Comedic, slightly awkward, and eager to impress. Not always successful with girls.
- Vocal Range: Baritone (approx. A2 – F4)
Vince Fontaine
- Type: Cameo/Featured
- Description: Smooth-talking radio DJ and dance host. Oozes charm with a slightly sleazy edge.
- Vocal Range: Baritone (approx. C3 – E4)
Teen Angel
- Type: Featured
- Description: A flashy, Elvis-style figure appearing in Frenchy’s dream to advise her to return to school.
- Vocal Range: Tenor (approx. E3 – B4)
Miss Lynch
- Type: Character role
- Description: The strict but occasionally humorous high school principal.
- Vocal Range: Non-singing or light Alto
Patty Simcox
- Type: Supporting
- Description: Cheerful, overly enthusiastic cheerleader; represents the “all-American” ideal.
- Vocal Range: Soprano (approx. B3 – D5)
Cha-Cha DiGregorio
- Type: Featured dancer/singer
- Description: Confident, bold dancer known as “the best dancer at St. Bernadette’s.”
- Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (approx. A3 – D5)
Ensemble
- Includes: Students, T-Birds, Pink Ladies, dancers, radio performers
- Vocal Needs: Mixed (SATB)
- Function: Supports major numbers like “Greased Lightnin’,” “We Go Together,” and dance sequences

Notes for Casting
- Many roles allow flexibility depending on production concept.
Rehearsals: Mon-Thurs (as called) 7:30-10:30 + select Sundays beginning on or around June 15th
Performances:
Friday - Sunday - July 31st - August 16th + Thursday, August 6th
NO TECH WEEK OR PERFORMANCE CONFLICTS ACCEPTED.
Modest stipends offered to performers 18 and older. Must be local to NY area or have arranged housing on their own.
For audition: Prepare 32 measures of upbeat Broadway/Pop-Rock style vocal selection. Bring sheet music.
Be prepared if asked to stay for dance call.
Bring resume w/head shot attached. If unable to attend in person; please submit vocal and movement reel to rick@studiotheatrelongisland.com no later than May 12th to be considered for a "live" call back.
